Harrisburg Trail provides a pathway through our community and a connection to some of the East End's most important places. The Harrisburg Trail Improvements project was completed in coordination with the Eastwood Park Master Plan as a means of recognizing enhancements that could make the trail even more inviting - both for residents and for cycling guests from around Houston! Improvements were specifically intended to make the trail experience safer and more inviting and was a general interpretation of what is needed.
The Harrisburg Redevelopment Authority has allocated $1.5 million in bond funds toward improvements along Harrisburg Trail with specific focus on improving safety by improving lighting and through improvements where the trail intersects with roadways. The HRA is currently seeking federal and state funds to expand the amount of safety and lighting improvements possible along the trail.
